Echo in the Vineyards

Education and Community Engagement Programs

As part of our mission to connect artists with the community, Music in the Vineyards provides a variety of engagement and educational opportunities to different communities here in the Napa Valley.

Free Open Rehearsals

Join us for a behind-the-scenes experience as festival musicians rehearse and prepare for upcoming concerts. Held on select afternoons, enjoy listening to and engaging directly with the artists.  The musicians look forward to sharing their work with you!

Free Student Masterclass
Our annual masterclass is an opportunity for Napa’s student musicians to receive artistic and technical guidance from Music in the Vineyards’ Artistic Directors and Festival musicians. Experience how professional artists mentor and support the next generation, sharing their craft and passion for chamber music. Supporting students from the Napa Valley Youth Symphony, the Paulin Center for the Arts, and other local music programs, this masterclass is free for both participants and audience members.

Annual “Play-Along” Concert
Enjoy a lively program featuring MITV’s remarkable Festival musicians—at accessible pricing for all ages.  The performance concludes with the audience joining the artists for a play-along of Pachelbel’s popular Canon in D, welcoming everyone in the community to join the fun. Whether you dust off your old violin or tap out rhythm on Tupperware, it’s your chance to get creative and be part of the music. Don’t miss one of the most joyful events of the summer!

Free Public Performances – Fellowship String Quartet

Since the 2025 festival season, our Fellowship String Quartet offers free performances throughout downtown Napa at venues such as Napa Bookmine, First Street Napa, Barnhouse, the Napa Public Library, and Folklore.

Free Performances for Senior Citizens and Boys and Girls’ Clubs

Each year, our Fellowship String Quartet presents interactive performances for adult day health programs, retirement and assisted living communities, and young children at Boys & Girls’ Clubs throughout the Napa Valley. Bringing music beyond the concert hall is a vital part of our mission—fostering connection, joy, and
inspiration for audiences and performers alike.

Music Illuminated
MITV’s signature series, developed by Artistic Director and former Minnesota Public Radio host, Michael Adams, consists of engaging talks designed to educate and delight everyone—from seasoned connoisseurs to musical novices.

Quartet Recital
Balancing free public performances and collaboration with professionals at winery concerts, the Fellowship String Quartet also presents its own affordable, family-friendly recital during the August festival.

Ensemble Coaching
Ensemble Coaching is for chamber ensembles who will be coached by different Music in the Vineyards festival musicians each week. We welcome applications from intermediate to experienced players seeking to refine their ensemble techniques with the help of an internationally renowned MITV musician.
